'Waiting for the Boats' depicts a group of people, mainly women waiting at the harbour for the fishing boats to come in. It is set in Victorian times; 1889. The painting has hues of blue, brown and grey/white and is very atmospheric. Here we see a part of daily life in northern England in Victorian Britain; history on canvas.
