THE QUARRY Watercolours

This painting was inspired by the photos of Burtynsky on the theme of Extraction / Abstraction at the Saatchi Gallery earlier this year. This painting of mine: ‘The Quarry’ was exhibited there as part of an exhibition of responses to his work. The effects were achieved by using granulating watercolours and lifting out the colour of the right to indicate the removal of rocks. A building sits atop the hill… who knows how it will survive…
The A4 size (29.7 x 21cm) artwork comes with a mount and backing board that is 40 x 30 cm to fit easily into this size frame. This original painting has my signature on the front and includes a signed Certificate of Authenticity. Winsor & Newton watercolour paints on 300gsm, cold-pressed, acid-free, watercolour paper.  The artwork is also shown with a frame but this is for illustration purposes only.
