Anne Robin

In conversation with Humph Hack - Curator

Anne lives and works in the outskirts of Paris. She describes her work as half-way between figurative and abstract.

I asked Anne about her earliest memories of making Art.

She told me that her earliest memories go back to childhood. "At that time we had very few television programmes to watch, no tablets and no video games. Drawing and painting were hobbies that I enjoyed very much, especially as part of my family encouraged it by example; there has been a line of artists in my family since at least the Renaissance,”

At school her art was not encouraged. “Creativity wasn’t really valued. We had to follow strict rules or get bad marks”.

She wanted to go to Art College, but having worked and saved the money over 3 years, a change in her personal circumstances meant she was unable to take up a place.

“But, I continued my artistic activities and later took classes with some excellent teachers… before continuing to teach myself.”

Almost alI Anne’s work is in Acrylics.

“I choose acrylics for most of my work because I like the modern look of an acrylic work. It dries quickly, which tames my impatience, because as soon as I start one work, I'm already thinking about the next”

She also likes how easy it is to use and clean up. Also, she really enjoys mixed techniques.

When asked about her choice of subject, Anne told me, “It depends on the period, I often work in series. But as a general rule, my inspiration comes from nature, in different forms”.

Her personal favourite art is Klimt, which she has admire long before his work became so popular.

As regards the future?

“I will continue to paint, because it’s a perpetual learning process… And maybe add another string to my bow… but that's yet to be defined”.

Anne’s Art has been bought by collectors across Europe and the wider World. She adds new works to this site on a regular basis – keep checking!
