A lone figure, umbrella in hand walks away from us. The rain is clearing droplets cling to a window, the window frame just visible gives a sense of looking out into the scene giving a sense of depth. Recently through to the second round of the South Wales Art Society Turner Prize 2016, this work is themed on an RS Thomas poem on Welsh life. Titled: 'Y Pentref drwy Glaw'. (the Village through Rain), the outline of north Wales mountains and hills contrasts with the small grey village nestling beneath.
