As a young boy I would often sneak into my local train sheds at Plaistow and wonder at the huge iron monsters especially as there never seemed to anybody about, tea breaks were very long then. The steamy grime covered place always stayed in my memory and I painted this to recreate that moment and I pass this on now to whoever may interested by the nostalgia of that time. We used to catch these steamy machines from Plaistow station for a day trip to Southend ,hanging our heads out of the windows to catch the smell ... Signed and dated.Framed and Ready to hang.
