I am particularly interested in behavioral aspects and the limits of freedom in contemporary societies, where we have a variety of examples of aggressiveness which is partly caused by the lack of spiritual freedom. Brutality has changed its face in contemporary urban environments. Despite the fact that generalized violence characterizes mainly military conflicts and wars, nowadays physical violence has entered civic environments with the form of ‘order’ or oppression against citizens and the freedoms they have gained during the last two centuries. Terrorism, state and police violence, para-state brutality, economic depression and sociopolitical precarity have made the citizens weak and unable to resist or rebel. Artists like Günter Brus have dealt with this concept in their work. His art was an instrument against violence, especially that form of violence that comes from the state. The shocking and striking images from the Viennese Actionism inspired and influenced my theme. Günter Brus represents these ideas dealing with the sociopolitical situation in his country, which he considered it was characterized by a hidden form of violence and physiological/mental oppression. The project itself tends to present brutality and aggressiveness and the body occupies the center of a clearly defined space. Limited edition of 2.
