This is an actual door in Taggia, a village dating back to mediaeval times, on the Italian Riviera. Once painted a lovely shade of green, the door now has its paint peeling off to reveal the weathered wood underneath. The gap above the door between the rusty iron grid and the bricks had been stuffed with some cardboard. I find doors and windows a fascinating subject to paint (the older the better !) and this is one of a series of such Italian doors for sale on this site. The textures in this scene were a challenge to paint from the rusty metal grid, to the weathered wooden boards at the bottom. It took me several days to complete, I hope you like it! It is a watercolour painted on Fabriano Artistico, 100% cotton, cold pressed, acid-free, 300gsm watercolour paper. Ready for your own choice of mount and frame, the paper is A3 size as detailed below. The original artwork comes with my signature on the front and includes a signed Certificate of Authenticity. The picture is also shown with a mount and frame but this is for illustration purposes only.
