A painting from a series about South Africa, at a time when I started  to believe that life had become so dangerous and every thing was about keys locks and chains.

I therefore started to use keys ,locks and chains throughout my paintings. In this painting the sky is chain and the forest keys, the trees in the foreground have bunches of keys as foliage, the undergrowth is more chain.

A tree can be seen getting cut down, this tree represents a man who has gambled with his life and has just lost every thing, yet all around looks calm.Painted in oil on canvas not framed.
