Solitude - Seascape, Ocean, Marsden, Rock, Beach, Sea.
Solitude is an image taken at the beautiful Marsden Rock along the northeast coast of England. During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, visitors would climb the wooden staircase that was once attached to the side of the rock to sit at the top and take in the sea views. The stairs no longer exist and the island is now a private home to various types of seabirds, such as gulls and kittiwakes. Meanwhile, the bay itself has a long history of smuggling, as the high cliff faces provided excellent coverage to moor boats full of illegal supplies.
