Original aviation oil painting of a Hurricane aircraft in defence of London, World War 2.

An RAF pilot climbs into the cockpit of his Hurricane fighter aircraft on ‘The Hardest Day’ during the Battle of Britain. As he clambers in to the cockpit, he scans the sky for the approach of the low flying enemy aircraft that he knows are approaching the airfield.

It is around 1pm on the 18th August, one of the toughest days of aerial combat during that long hot summer of 1940. The pilot is of 615 Squadron, Fighter Command, based at Kenley Aerodrome, Surrey. The Squadron have just been ordered to ‘scramble’ in response to a fast moving, low level enemy raid, that only minutes later will be charging over the treetops.

Original oil painting finished in high quality varnish, delivered well wrapped in a presentation box and with a certificate of authenticity.
