This is Sams Chop house Lowrys haunt by night

Yes Sams chop house

on back pool fold

off cross street Manchester

established in 1872

a pub and restaurant is on the scene

used to be a haunt of L S Lowry

and in his day

he used to pop in for lunch as a rent collector

have a Wilsons bitter

or a sherry or two

while he doodled on napkins

and contemplated life

talk with his friend at the bar

he sits at the bar now

as a bronze statue to remember him by

of times gone by

so ive painted a picture

of Sams chop house

on a Manchester night

lowry stands outside the pub

looking on

with matchstick men on his mind

so I hope you don’t mind ive painted a picture

A modern take on lowry in my style

Yeah he painted in muted greys

A reflection of his time

But this is my time

Full of colour and bright lights at night

But the people are milling about

waiting for the day

when the pubs will reopen again

with a pint in the pub and some grub

Cos lockdowns not lifted

So we look on

In masks and gloves

Waitin for the day

When pubs and clubs can reopen again

then I’ll have a beer and cheer

Stand at the bronze statue of lowry

Raise me glass And give a nod

to this inspiring Manchester man

Propin up the bar

Contemplating life With no strife

So hers hopin

For better days to come

When lockdowns lifted

And well be gifted

With a pint in the pub and maybe some grub

So heres to L.S Lowry

A man of the past

and boy did he last
