A pencil drawing from the Somerset coastline near Watchet and Kielve.
The birds and the geology are two of my favourite subjects, and my sketchbooks contain plenty of both. The rock formations seem to be revealing all manner of gifts, we just need to look! This is worked back in the studio at my easel, high up in the Cotswold hills - a very different type of landscape.
A study of seabirds in Northumbria and Somerset led to a series of drawings and paintings from this surprising landscape. A series that became as much about the rocks as the birds. The deep red standing formations on the beach and the coloured strata are beautiful and seem to be releasing all manner of secrets.
Pencil marks are expressive and with the economy of line can describe so much.
This small pencil drawing is 26.5cm x 26.5cm, and is offered to you, signed and fixed ready to take to your framer. It would benefit from a wide double mount and a simple modern frame if you are looking for a fresh, modern feel. It is not supplied with a mount or a frame.
I use Royal Mail with next day delivery and insurance.
