This painting is of a racehorse called Sir Dragonet in 2019 being prepared for the Derby. Aidan O'Brien is pictured in his trademark glasses. I was taken by the composition of the lads and trainer's attention to the preparation of the horse for his race in the early summer light, and eventually got round to painting it. I am always interested in the back stage stories away from the limelight. The painting is unframed.
