This painting is based upon a photo taken during my travels in Alaska. The Puma was in a wildlife sanctuary I visted, where wounded animals are rehabilitated and finally released. Unlike many interpretations by artists,of this beautiful creature,I decided to paint him in a natural pose in which he appears totally relaxed in his natural environment. The pre drawing for this painting took over two weeks to complete, even before I started to put colour to the painting. The reward I received for this highly acclaimed painting was that it was a finalist in the prestigious David Shepherd international wildlife artist of the year 2016 competition.
