My Orange Scaredy-Cat is a flexible freestanding sculpture made with wire and glue guns. From the top of his bushy tail to his paws he measures 41cm. One of the photos show him beside a bottle of wine which gives a good idea of height without having to reach for a tape measure. The head is on a wire so it can be moved left or right. I first started making these in the 90's when I used to have a regular stall at craft markets in Leeds. They also sold extremely well in galleries and a friend of mine still has one from those days and it looks great. When I moved into painting, my Scaredy-Cats were abandoned for a long time but now I'm revisiting them and they feel like old friends. The original inspiration came from my amazing cat Otto who is long gone now but never ever forgotten. A collection of my wire and glue sculptures were exhibited at The Yorkshire Sculpture Park in the Garden Galley.

About the Artist

After working as an illustrator and textile designer I became a self employed artist in 1990. I had a regular stall at Granary Wharf and the Corn Exchange in Leeds, where I enjoyed great success selling my unique art. This was mostly sculpture made out of wire and EVA (plastic/resin).
