Oilseed 2013

10 monthly payments of £15.00 0% APR
This is an original painting called Oilseed which was made very recently using Acrylic, Ink, and Watercolour on 300gsm watercolour paper. At this time of year a drive through this part of Kent is an assault on the senses :) The livid slashes of yellow rapeseed fields are truly lovely to see and the smell as you wind down the car window or step out to take it all in is dizzying :) I remember a particular afternoon, a thousand years ago, when a bunch of us stopped by a rapeseed field in my clapped out Citroen 2CV and we spent a good hour romping around in the field getting smothered in pollen. We filled the car with so many of the plants that we had to roll the roof back and clear a little space for me to see out of the windscreen. So thick were they packed that we couldn't see who was sat next to us in the car. We bestowed the plants upon everyone drinking in The Crispin when we arrived later that afternoon. I'd forgotten that afternoon until I painted this picture. Lovely. The painting is approximately 210mm x 297mm 8.3" x 11.7" (A4) and is unmounted and unframed

About the Artist

I never have a clear idea of what a finished painting is going to look like. They evolve organically during their creation. My inspiration comes from the Kent countryside and childhood holidays spent in Cornwall. I’m very interested in narratives that are intrinsically linked to the countryside s...
