Inspired by the abundance of Queen Anne's Lace (otherwise known as Wild Carrot) growing in and around the countryside near my home in the Cotswolds in the summer of 2014. Painted on gesso primed canvas this is a mixed media work including acrylic and glass paints with some use of cern outliners. I have used actual lace to depict the lace of the plant and the little butterflies (painted on acetate) complete the scene. Queen Anne's lace is a native wildflower herb and is cultivated in some wildflower gardens for its stunning and delicate beauty. This is an intricate piece of work which I hope will honor the natural intricacy of this pretty plant often taken for granted. The painting measures 7.5" x 9.5" and the triple mount measures 1.25" The frame measures 12.75" x14.75" x.75" The work is sealed with crystal resin, mounted and framed under glass and is ready to hang.
