Part of the ‘Pursuit of Self’ Collection which consists of mixed media and photographic pieces.
Inspired by an old Japanese proverb I came across, which says:
“You have three faces. The first face you show to the world. The second face, you show to your close friends and family. The third face, you never show anyone – it is the truest reflection of who you are.”
So, what is that?
Through the exploration of finding true or internal mind, soul, or nature, is the quest to find your inner self and your own uniqueness.
Expressed through laying different mediums of acrylic paint, acrylic ink, gouache, recycled paper and foil leaf, this piece of art represents how complex we are as individuals, consisting of the layers or faces we present to the world and ourselves. Only we know who our truest self is and our essence, which has been represented through the colour choice of this piece.
