I live in Sutton -in- the -Isle, in the Fens, which is raised above a tidal flood plain. Periodically we are flooded and many roads closed. This area is known as The Gault due to its thick clay and is a haven for waterfowl, especially Lapwing,Teal,Hooper and Mute swans. As the temperature drops in the evening, the mist starts to rise and it is easy to imagine how travelers in the past could lose their way.
Lapwing are flying overhead in formation... note the lone sentinal at the back, typical of lapwing.
