In 2017 I created a series of paintings in response to an open exhibition call for works on the theme of "Light". This was the same time I was travelling along the A417 and M4 every three or four days to support my mother who was diagnosed with onset alzheimers. The changing light over the months behind the managed forest trees in their carefully planted lines flickered as I passed on the other side of the motorway. I chose to do this piece totally abstract concentrating on the lines. The trunks are dark and there is little foliage early in the year. The branches are high on the trees and at a sharp angle presumably to try to find the sun. Below there are dark shrubs and tangles of brambles creating mounds of darkness.
