This original contemporary creation is based upon ancient myths and legends concerning rebirth experienced by the sun's fire bird. Materials include mixed media paints, iridescent / metallic pigments, paette knife textures and a small natural ruby for the bird's eye, on canvas with wooden stretchers. The metallic pigments provide a unique sense of life giving movement through changing light conditions. There is little justice for the actual artwork through photography. Please see the video slide show for examples of changing light conditions it is best seen and gently touched. 50 X 70 x 1.5 cm - 19.5 X 27.5 X .5 In. Images in room view are for illustration purposes. My painting style is the use of altered brush strokes and the palette knife with modern materials to capture the effects of light on the subject, resembling some aspects of the impressionist works by Monet, Van Gogh and Pissarro.
