Inspired recently to paint this rather old image of the King after viewing old photo's and wondering, if he we're that age, and in these modern times ,how different his publicity shot's would be. I tried to keep the vintage look of the piece with rustic jacket and blue check flannel shirt, yet also bring him up to date as maybe the modern media might overly portray him, you could say that Elvis got Blinged out. I have tried the 4 feet by 3 feet piece out in a few of my room's and i swear blind he's followed me wherever i went, with that glint in his eye as if he's itching to break into song. I themed the whole painting around the color blue, of which Elvis seemed to use so much in his music and Fashion. On a recent trip to the UK I had the pleasure of meeting elvis's first cousin Wayne Mann, and one of his last girlfriends Jo Cathy Brownlee, they wanted to meet the artist that painted the image they had seen whilst here, we had a good talk and was very inspirational to hear stories from Wayne about himself and Elvis growing up together, and when he hit the big time. They signed a few old photo's they had and both also signed my painting, felt very honored and was a great experience. SEE PHOTO'S.
