Deep blue water

"Deep Blue Water" is inspired by the South Devon Coastline. It reminds me of holidays swimming and snorkeling in the Mediterranean and also trips to Cornwall. The turquoise sea off St.Ives is a particular favourite of mine. This is one in a new series of paintings examining the play of light. I am interested in the way the sunlight hits the water. This creates movement and a play light.  I like to examine the constant colour changes. For example, the shallow water can vary from the palest blue almost turquoise, to emerald green turning to a deep indigo blue. I aim to make the viewer to feel a certain amount of escapism when looking this painting. But also give an immersive experience.
