It could be almost any morning during the Battle of Britain...In the quiet of the early light, as the morning mist clears shortly after dawn, all the noise of the Merlin engines warming up is over. Silence briefly reigns again whilst the ground crew work on the last tweaks to ensure the aircraft are ready again, for the inevitable combat that is to come. For now though there is the waiting....

The painting depicts Hawker Hurricane aircraft from 32 Squadron, at Biggin Hill Aerodrome, Surrey, one of the key RAF stations defending the London area. Only hours later, these aircraft and their pilots will be in the thick of the dogfights raging in the skies overhead, on the 18th August 1940, ‘The Hardest Day’ of the Battle of Britain, in World War 2.

Original aviation oil painting finished in high quality varnish, delivered well wrapped in a presentation box and with a certificate of authenticity.
