This delicate sculpture has been created with a 3D pen using transparent ABS filament. 40 butterflies (all drawn by hand) are linked together to form the sphere with the addition of a stable base. The structure is the size of a basketball with enough room left open at the top to arrange the LED fairy lights. The butterflies look like crushed glass and have been painted with a watercolour effect to give a dainty, barely there hint of colour. I've also applied glass beads suspended in a clear gel to make the butterflies look even more glass-like! The battery operated micro lights (5m) are on a bendable wire and are inexpensive to purchase and come in a variety of colours (ebay/Amazon). The warm white lights pictured are included in the sale with batteries installed. The photos show the sculpture in daylight and at night when this exquisite and ethereal piece of art really comes to life.
