The magnificent Bamburgh Castle stands proudly on the Northumberland coast, commanding attention from all who visit this beautiful area of England.  I have visited here numerous times and in this painting I have tried to capture some of the beauty of this castle as the sunset creates an incredible glow across the warm sandstone of the battlements.

As an artist from the North East of England, I love to capture scenes of the surrounding landscapes and tis painting was a pleasure to work on.  Painted with thick and thin strokes in oils on canvas, I used both brushes and palette knives to create the textures, particularly in the sea.  This has painted edges, so does not need to be framed.
