Autumn Sings is a 30x40inches oil painting celebrating October and the deer romantic season. It shows a fallow deer buck and three hinds standing among the autumn greens, oranges and magentas of ferns and fir trees. I made this painting after a day spent following fallow deer around in Knole Park, Sevenoaks. Deer are magical all year round but in autumn they become more active so are easier to spot. This painting was made by first painting the buck stag on the right and then having the ferns intertwine with him and lead over to the three females. These three appear in many of my paintings as they add wisdom whilst the stag adds the brawn. Dedicated to all people who are cherishing and protecting our landscapes and to the National Trust who maintain this beautiful park and its deer. Painted on deep edge canvas, white, ready to hang, no frame needed.
