My interest in painting and drawing and my love of colour and texture developed as a young girl and I always knew I would go to art college. After graduating in 1984 with a BA in Fashion and Textile Design I worked as a Knitwear Designer for 10 years, until I had my l daughters. My passion for painting never left me and after 15 years of bringing up children I returned to University where I gained a First Class (hons) Degree in Fine Art from the University of Northampton. As an artist working with paints and canvas I have over the last few years become more and more drawn to exploring the relationship between photography and painting and how one informs the other. Every time I snap my camera I do so with a painting in mind, photography has become my sketchbook. My world as it is recorded through photographs, and my relationship with them have become the subjects of my paintings. By reducing each subject down to bold blocks of colour, using shadows and light to depict bustling crowd scenes or empty landscapes, my work has a sense of atmosphere and drama. Thank you for looking.
