Peter Day BSc For the past 30 yearsPeter has lived in Broadstairs, where he became a total convert to watercolour some 25 years ago having previously painted in oils and Screen Printing for 25 years. He is often seen around Thanet, sketching and painting with a board on his lap, rather than an easle. His stye, producing lively and glowingly colourful landscapes, is easily recognizable and not easily imitated In 2000 Peter was seen on Channel 4's 'Watercolour Challenge', where he was eventually beaten in the final. His paintings sold within 30 minutes at the opening of the series exhibition at the Mall Galleries in London. He also features in the Book of the Series, where one of his paintings is used to demonstrate several aspects of what makes a good watercolour. In 2003 Peter was a finalist on the nationwide Portrait painting TV series 'A Brush with Fame', compared by Carol Smilie. In 2005 Peter won a national competition resulting in the House of Lords buying 3 large paintings for the 'Paliamentary Collection', and were exhibited in the Houses of Parliament. More recently in 2017 he has won Kent Life Magazine's first 'Landscape Painter of the Year' competition. with cash prize and prestigeous exhibition. He has exhibited with solo exhibitions an local libraries and has the concession from Thanet District Council to show his watercolour paintings, prints, cards, table mats and coasters on Broadstairs Seafront Railings on various occassions from Easter through to September, strongly believing in bringing his Art to the people.
