Originally from Manchester, I have spent most of my working life in Sussex and came to art rather late in my career. I studied for a degree in Fine Art 5 years part-time whilst juggling a very busy job managing an industrial photographic studio. In 2007 I gained a BA Hons degree in fine art painting/printmaking from Brighton University. Most of my inspiration comes from disused industrial buildings and my surroundings, working from drawings and paintings on the spot in all weathers. I enjoy working on a variety of subject matter, experimenting with mixed media, combined with printmaking which often leads to surprising results. I also take inspiration from old black and white magazines of children at play, all our yesterdays, and re-inventing them mainly in watercolour and these have proved popular, one relating to growing up in Manchester and painted in inks, won first prize in the Sussex Watercolour Society Open and selected for the Royal Watercolour Society 2lst Century exhibition at Bankside Gallery London. I was selected for the National Open at Chichester with a painting of Geevor Tin Mines and exhibited at Brick Lane and Knapp Gallery,Regents Park London. Skyways Gallery Shoreham by Sea. My painting `Evoking Littlecote` was selected for use by a Swedish company as a design on their acoustic panels. Current work is centering on watercolour still life set ups and nature with more of a free impressionistic style. If you would like an image that has been sold you can commission an artwork on the understanding it will not be an exact copy but have its own unique features added.
Artist in mixed media and printmaking.
