'An Affinity With Landscape' I am lucky to live on the Isle of Wight in Totland Bay and find inspiration for my work in my beautiful surroundings as well as on painting trips further afield. I have a realistic but flowing style which is earning my work a growing appreciative audience. I was first inspired at the age of eleven to pick up a paint brush when I saw John Constable's ‘Haywain’. Although I evidentally showed a talent for art my first profession was furniture making and design, it was not until some twenty years ago that I changed tack and became a professional artist. In the early 1990s I gained a teaching qualification and now give painting tuition to art groups and societies as well as giving live demonstrations for the SAA (Society for All Artists). I also run painting holidays in France and for HF Holidays at their various UK houses and in Italy. I won an international Landscape Painting competition in 2016 (having come second in 2015) with the ‘Light, Space and Time Gallery’ and have had some success with the SAA and The Artist magazine/Patchings competitions. 'Living on the Isle of Wight I am quite literally surrounded by inspiring scenery and when I find myself daydreaming looking out of the studio window, I am looking across The Solent to the New Forest. I visit many fantastic, inspiring places both here in the UK and abroad, I love to teach and as well as running my art group ‘The 5 Bells Art Group' I do much one to one tutoring at my studio in Totland Bay.
