I am a largely self taught fine artist and photographer. My early work concentrated on representing landscapes, predominantly using watercolours. These paintings were exhibited and sold at craft fairs and art shops throughout the Midlands. More recently I turned to explorations of the human figure. This shift in focus was largely as a result of attending evening life drawing classes for several years at FE colleges in Nuneaton and Coventry, where I obtained a City and Guilds in Life Drawing. My figurative fine art works are produced using a variety of media from pencil and charcoal drawings, through to pastel, acrylic and oil paintings. Always having had a keen interest in taking and developing my own photos from 35mm film, developments in digital photography have meant that I am rarely out and about without my camera capturing parts of the landscape that interest me. Photography of the human form began purely as a means of capturing reference material for paintings, but I found the results had a power and beauty of their own, and they now hold an important place in my body of work. My still life work is about finding the beauty in everyday objects that are so often overlooked. I have been a member of the Coventry and Warwickshire Society of Artists (CWSA) for a number of years. I am also a member of the Leamington Studio Artists (LSA). I have exhibited in galleries across the midlands.
