I have been passionate about art since I was a young boy of 5 or 6. I had my first exhibition when I was 6 years old in my house, I invited friends and family to come along. As I grew older and started work and have a family my art took a break. Then I had the misfortune to have a serious road accident, I could not work so I decided to go into education. Art has always been my first love, so off I went to college. It was there I was advised to go to university. So at the age of 37 I went into full time education, where I stayed for 6 years. They couldn't get rid of me, I enjoyed it so much. I was just sorry I didn't do it when I was younger, at this time I decided to go into voluntary work teaching art and encouraging young people to go into further education. I now hold a BA in fine art an MA in Creative Multimedia, a degree in film making, and an award from the university for life long learning. I have been a professional artist for 8 years, since moving into my new home / studio in North Yorkshire. My inspiration comes from my surrounding North Yorkshire moors / countryside also my industrial birthplace of Middlesbrough, holidays to Dubai, India, and Jamaica. The artists that have inspired me are Kandinsky, Van Gogh, Donald Judd, and architects Mies Van Der Rohe and Norman Foster. My thoughts on Abstract Art When I start to paint or draw I don't set out with an agenda, no planning has taken place, I just start to draw and enjoy the pencil/brush taking me on a journey, hopefully a positive one. It's this journey I want to share with you, so you can enjoy the painting as much as me. I believe a painting should hold the viewer, it should have depth and passages into time. Each time you look at my painting I want you to experience something new, explore this and let it take you into a positive place. A painting should be like a good story teller, a poet, or an actor. I enjoy the freedom Abstract art brings, I love architecture, sculpture, as well as oil and acrylic painting, I have taught art in schools and colleges, worked as a graphic designer, and worked in the film industry drawing and creating animations. I have exhibited in summer shows and throughout the UK and local art groups. After I had a stroke which affected my right side I continued to paint. Thankfully I am left handed which enables me to continue with my work. I previously used pastels and continued to do so with success. My artwork is kept at a realistic price so there is always affordable artwork to purchase. I hope you enjoy looking at my work, thank you.

Really love the picture - it captures the buildings, pond and the light beautifully. Hangs in out front lounge over the piano which it complements very nicelySubmitted by Anders H 18/12/2014
