I was brought up in Somerset, lived in South West London for many years but now live in Wiltshire, having moved there recently. Aspects of the city such as the parks, river and open spaces provide inspiration for my paintings. I am also inspired by the ancient sites around Salisbury such as Stonehenge, Old Sarum and Salisbury itself. I work mostly in watercolour, often preferring watercolour because of its subtlety for my landscapes which I often paint directly on site. However I also enjoy using oils, acrylics and pastels. I like to combine pastels with watercolours for many of my close-up bird paintings because of the strength of colour and immediacy it lends to the subject. I am most recently interested in mixed media - watercolour and collage and have sold several of these paintings. I exhibit my work on the internet and in exhibitions in and around Salisbury. I have also taken part in open studios events. As well as having had my paintings in galleries I have also exhibited work at the Bath and West of England show and the Chelsea art society exhibition where I have sold work. Currently a member of the Salisbury Group of Artists I exhibit regularly with them. I have recently been awarded a Highly Commended certificate for a painting of Salisbury Cathedral in their summer exhibition. Over the last few years I have had work published in Leisure painter magazine and The Society for All Artists magazine, 'Paint'. I have had several solo exhibitions of my work and I am also willing to undertake commissions.
