Although I was born and brought up in Bedfordshire, I studied at Somerset College Of Art & Technology gaining a B.A. (Hons) Degree in Textile Design during the mid 1990's. After graduating, I spent a couple of years in Wiltshire working in part time retail jobs, while doing freelance textile design work. I then decided to move to Cornwall, having fallen in love with the area during many visits, and in 1997 I joined a group of artist studios in a new gallery in St. Agnes on the north coast. During this time I developed my unusual technique using tissue paper and inks to create detailed textured collages and paintings, selling the paintings through the gallery, as well as working on designs for a fine art greetings card and print publisher. Having the studio was great but I wanted to expand the business and become independent from the gallery space I was located in. With this in mind, I moved to Charlestown on the south coast of Cornwall and on my 30th birthday I opened a gallery and picture framing business with my parents. They have retired and I now run the gallery with my partner and fellow artist Paul Clark. We combine painting, framing and running the gallery, as well as bringing up our young daughter, who luckily has inherited our love of art. I love painting the coastal villages and cottages of Cornwall, and have recently been inspired to paint the northern coast of Majorca after a short holiday there. I work in both collage, and acrylic inks, enjoying the vibrancy of colour which they offer, painting onto watercolour paper, canvas and board.
