I have been a full time, professional artist since 2003, after studying art, set design and photography in London. I returned to my home town of Cowes on the Isle of Wight with my young family in 1997, where I started a successful business making and selling a large range of greetings cards featuring my own photographic images. Five years later, I took the plunge into painting. I have always adored the varied coastlines that we are so lucky to have on our doorsteps, especially the seaweed bedecked, craggy shores at low tide. My palette comes predominately from observations on coastal walks and my emotional response to these surroundings. My collection of 1950s/60s textiles, ceramics and prints, with all their wonderful colours and textures are also inspiring. The resulting highly textured acrylic paintings have attracted customers from all over the word.

I'm very pleased with this, having been a bit wary about buying unseen, and it was extremely good value for money. I am, though, a bit dubious about the need to use varnish, because I have two similarly mounted and rather larger paintings unvarnished which it sits beside, and I prefer that finish. Having said that, I have managed to site it so that there is no strong light on it, and so the varnish isn't noticeable.
