I have always enjoyed the creative process and have practised many arts and crafts whilst living abroad for over 30 years in Italy, Sweden, Belgium, France and Turkey, being inspired by the art and culture in each of these countries. While living in Stockholm I studied ‘rosnaling’ and created my own interpretation of these stylistic flower designs on wooden items that I sold at craft fairs, also taking commissions to produce personalised items. In Brussels, Paris and Istanbul I continued to paint on wood and fabric incorporating local influences, cutting my own stencils of the Grand Place buildings in Brussels. In Paris,in addition to painting stylised French street scenes on decorative wooden items, personalised to order, I also commenced the art of decoupage. In Istanbul I used images of Turkish art and artefacts such as the beautiful Iznik ceramics on decoupaged objects. I taught private courses covering paint effects on wood, stencilling and decoupage in English, Italian and French. Now living in London in winter and spending time in the summer in Italy, I have rediscovered my love of drawing and painting. My current preferred media are graphite, coloured pencils, ink and watercolours. I find inspiration from the world around me from nature, architecture and people. I am attracted to a variety of subjects to interpret artistically from landscapes to a rusty hinge on a door! Last year I was selected for the V and A juried exhibition ‘Inspired By’ hosted at Morley Gallery with my picture Ripped. I was also selected to exhibit at the Candid Arts gallery for the exhibition Wanderlust. This year I have taken part in various exhibitions including group exhibitions at Tate Modern and the Saatchi gallery.Several pictures of mine were also in the Urban Sketchers Liguria exhibition at Palazzo Ducale in Genova. I hope you enjoy my artwork!
