Having always been interested in drawing and art works since a very early age I am basically a self taught artist. Over the years I have received a variety of professional tuitions, joined in many art workshops, and enjoyed being in the company of likeminded people in several art clubs. I was a co-founder of a very successful art group in Essex and when I moved to Scotland I started my own small art group and also became secretary with another group. A few years ago I enrolled for a Pet Portrait Diploma Course with The London School of Art for which I gained a Distinction pass. My main interests are, animal portraits, florals and landscape, although occasionally I'll get an idea in my head and work on an abstract piece. I like to work with oils, acrylics and some of my earlier pet portraits were done with soft pastels and pastel pencils. A painting is a very personal thing, Not only do we need to like what we see but the painting should “talk” to us. I can work for hours on a new piece of art and feel it is not working out at all then a few more strokes of the brush and suddenly it begins to mean something - It's like a bonding, a special feeling you get when something is going right for you. At that point I know I’m going to be happy with the result.
