I have recently returned to painting after a break of nearly 30 years, taken up with childcare and working. I originally took up painting in 1980, with no formal training and have exhibited my work in galleries in Rome, Toronto and the UK, and for several years at the Portal Gallery in London. My subjects are the everyday ............. familiar animals, people out walking for example, but with some dreaming and imagination thrown in to render them extra real to me! My main and enduring influences are the florentine paintings of the Renaissance which I was often taken to see as a child in Italy, being drawn more to the details in the background, such as the people and animals, than the main characters!
