My aim is to produce beautiful and highly finished works that youd be happy and proud to hang on the wall of your living room or might grace the most distinguished board rooms of the corporate world! says Christopher. He derives much inspiration from the great Renaissance masters, particularly the brilliant Northern Renaissance artists such as Memling, Van Eyck , and Van de Weyden. More recent artists whose work he admires are the 20thC painters such as the Dutch Pyke Koch and Carel Villinck, and the Brotherhood of Ruralist artist David Inshaw. Chris lives and works in the stunning Peak District of Derbyshire, taking his inspiration from the beautiful , ever changing landscapes around Matlock, Bakewell and Ashbourne. He travels frequently to the medieval hills and towns of Tuscany, to the Atlantic beaches and sublime waters of the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia USA to paint . His paintings often feature the varied landscape and seascapes of France.During the artistic process Chris strives to make every painting a timeless work of art worthy of many generations of enjoyment. To that end Chris employs a range of techniques to arrive at the finished portrait or landscape, drawing upon his extensive knowledge and research into the techniques of the Old Masters.
