Hi, welcome to my gallery. I studied art at Newcastle School of Art & Design; and I live in the North East of England with my partner and our Border Terrier. I have always loved art from a very early age and going to Art School gave me the opportunity to pursue my passion. For me painting allows that perfect quiet, where I am at peace with myself and my surroundings it's an escape from the everyday stresses of life. My most recent work focuses mainly on portraiture of people and animals, I love to try and capture their character and essence in my artwork. My basic technique usually starts with a pencil/charcoal sketch which I then work over with pastel, paint and enamel, creating different layers. I’ve taken inspiration from some of the modern artists of the 20th century; I particularly love their use of texture, colour and movement. Art allows me to share my own unique take on the world; my hope is that you will find something in my work that speaks to you.
