Before becoming a professional artist in 1985 I worked for the forestry commission. This enabled me to see the countryside and coast at all times of year in all its many moods and lights. Although I have produced many paintings over the years I still feel the same enthusiasm every time I am faced with a blank canvas. Recently I have derived great pleasure in passing on my various techniques to students in my classes, some of whom have gone on to be successful artists themselves. One of the highlights of my career was having a painting, titled 'Moonlight', shortlisted from 15,000 entries in The Daily Mail's 'NOT The Turner Prize 2004'. It was exhibited and sold at The Mall Galleries in London.
