This original drypoint print was exhibited at the Heatherley's Printmaking Exhibition 2017 in Chelsea. It is one of a limited edition of only ten, each hand-printed by the artist on 100% cotton 300 gram Somerset paper from St Cuthbert's Mill using a Rochat etching press. Drypoint is one of the printmaking processes known as intaglio. The artist has worked the image by hand on an aluminium plate using the tools shown (see illustrations). The grooves and indentations made in the metal hold the ink while the rest of the surface is wiped clean. As the paper and plate pass through the press, the intense pressure forces the paper into the indentations to pick up the ink. The mount is made from Arqadia conservation board (white/whitecore Hayseed). The frame is of natural wood (ash) with mirror-plate hanging fittings. D-ring hanging fittings can be substituted on request.
