Foxes are a favourite animal of mine and I have actually fed tame ones in someones garden one evening by hand, I have read the urban foxes are dangerous to approach in the UK and much maligned of late, which is a shame because domesticated dogs are more vicious. I have to say I think this website is a unique resource and is upholding a tradition of fair play to amateurs, semi professional and professionals alike, because artists often improve with age and experience, most start off as amateurs or even self taught, which is not always a bad thing, sometimes trial and error is the best way of learning. A favourite artist of mine, Van Gogh, who a lot try to emulate and study his technique was a perfect example of a self taught artist. I love pencil sketches, I bought a print of elizabeth taylor as cleopatra last year and will be on the lookout for more, excellent Art and service, don't change a thing."

"I like it and it was as I expected from the website display. It suits me fine buying art over the internet. But then I buy almost everything over the Internet. I thought the website was well structured, helpful and fit for purpose. I looked at over 8,000 paintings on the site and found it easy to do this. I didn't use or look at the "wish list" function on the site. I set up a short list of 100 pieces (in a spreadsheet) and then asked my partner to have a look at these. Although, the present was not for her I would have preferred that she could have chosen to look at the pieces with the prices not visible, as I did not want price to be a major deciding factor (and I know she can't resist a bargain). So I would suggest a global price show/hide function as a facility for users of the website. We ended up with what we thought was a very inexpensive piece, by the way. From the point of view of budding artists, I think your selling model
is really good (though I have no opinion at all on the percentage split) and I have suggested the website as a possible outlet to two artist friends.
Some of the artists descriptions of their pieces on the website could do with fleshing out, especially elaboration on whether a piece is framed or unframed, or requires framing, or what the alternatives are for final display. Some do fine, whilst others don't. Sizes should be given in both imperial and metric."

" A delightful painting by Elizabeth Thomson which really 'moved' me. I feel I have purchased a wonderful piece of artwork for a very reasonable price. The painting (being delicate owing to some gold-leaf content) was delivered safely and quickly. My feeling of buying art over the internet varies depending on my 'gut feel' about the site. I have purchased much more expensive pieces that this painting with, so far, no issues, but I accept the need for caution and the need to seek some kind of guarantee against failure to deliver and damage. The real issue with internet purchasing is the ability to see the 'real thing' before purchasing - this is especially true of purchasing art-work. I suspect the only way to try and address this is to offer as many 'accurate' views of the work as possible - by this I mean clear images in the appropriate light.
I would certainly purchase from you again if I found the art I wanted for the right price. I have found an excellent painting, delivered safely and have had delightful dialogue with yourself - what more could I ask for?"

The only thing I would like to see improved is access to the pictures online. If something could be done to the website to cross reference art work it would save scrolling through endless work which is of no interest. For example if we could see work in a partticular price range linked with a theme or type of painting, then it would give easier access.
I have used the website to buy artwork before and I do visit it from time to time to see new work. I have also visited the Cambridge art fair (and met you I believe). I run an art group and I have recommended your site to its members.

The artist thoughtfully included some screws for hanging if required plus contact info, etc. Overall I am extremely pleased with the painting. I have it hanging in the spot I had planned for it and it gives me a great deal of enjoyment. I bought the work knowing that it was painted onto rescued plywood and hence not perfect but my only criticism is that it is not square. This gives it a slightly lopsided look when hung as the eye is drawn to the straight lines of the walls and ceiling. This is not a huge draw back, indeed some people have not even noticed, but I cant help feeling that a little more care in preparation would not have gone amiss.

You also get much more choice. The downside is that you obviously can't see it in real life, but as long as the pictures on the web site are clear, it's not too much of a problem. You can return the artwork if you don't like it anyway. I don't think there is any way you could improve your service.

I think your website would be even better if you'd allow searches to be more refined, so that more than one (but not all) categories in type, subject and style could be clicked.
I was looking for any subject bar animals, birds, nudes and still life bu still had to trawl through loads of those because your menu didn't allow a
few categories to be clicked in one search.
Same with style; I wasn't interested in photography but was in all others so
still had to look at loads of photographic art.
Also in the virtual rooms it'd be good if other types of art (like statues) would be placed on a table or something rather than where the paintings go (same spot on the wall) and if your virtual room allows for more than 1 painting to be hung (for series of paintings, diptych etc).
I've been given art gallery gift vouchers for my birthday too so I'll be back on your website soon...."

Never bought art on the internet before but the selection is a great deal better than you can find anywhere in shops / galleries so I'd definitely recommend it.
I'd recommend UPS rather than DHL (I'm biased as I work for UPS but the outer packaging was puncture damaged on the parcel though the picture itself was fine)

I was a little concerned about buying art over the internet as obviously you cant know 100% if you will like it so the money back guarantee is a good back up and one that maybe needs highlighting a bit more on your site. Perfect condition, yes - on time, no! Subsequent communication was thorough, personal and genuine which made up for it (you'll always make mistakes, its about how you fix them) Is there a technical/process issue around the notification of the artist for dispatch? Do you completely rely on their checking an inbox?

I really like it. The idea of anonymously browsing and buying artwork that I like is very appealing - see point 1 though!

While I understand the need for accessible/optimised site design I do think the site looks a little plain as a result. I don't completely understand this, bearing in mind the fact that you are selling paintings I think that a little more style over practicality wouldn't go amiss! In fact, by being able to offer a greater number and range of artworks than could possibly be housed within a standard gallery, it improves choice no end. Also, I'm no art expert and would feel like a fish out of water in a gallery, whereas this allowed me to browse freely and without feeling self-conscious.
4. Are there any aspects of our service we could improve? As you already have the application to appreciate how artworks look in different rooms and colour schemes, it may help to search on colour (ie the main colour of a canvas), but that's just being picky!

(I did find another piece on a different web site, but it was more complicated to navigate through, your details had to be re-entered several times, their payment system wasn't working, it took days for them to reply to my email and in the end , i found your site, ordered, paid and painting dispatched before a reply came from them and i'd managed to find a more apt piece for my friend. and they missed out on a sale)..so for me, your servious was very professional so no improvemnet necessary..

I did call two or three times to ask about delivery, the first time I spoke to a very helpful woman but the phone calls after that just went to a machine. I found the website by googling the artist (Michael Gutteridge) as I was particularly interested in his Manchester paintings.

Never bought art over the internet before but we are trying to find some pieces for our home and found that art exhibitions are hard to come by and usually expensive so this was a good way to browse a range of art which was in our budget. Slightly nervous that it would arrive damaged or not as was displayed on the webpage but our fears were allayed when the picture arrived.

I did think the colours in the actual painting were brighter than on the website but that may well have been our monitor. Some people may not have liked the difference in colour however but we liked the bright colours."

I had a work colleague who occasionally bought paintings on the web and I am not too concerned about buying over the internet. The first pieces by David Moore and Ricky Figg were a sort of tester, which turned out well, consequently I bought more.
The website and search features are good. When available I like the zoom view of paintings so you can see texture. I will probably continue to buy original art like this but maybe once every

I found going online to buy artwork (rather than going to lots of various galleries) a lot quicker to view a wider range of images. I'm a graphic
designer so had a good idea of what the finished artwork would look like.
4. The service on the website was very good and considering how many images there are on the site, it navigates very quickly (although I am on broadband so it's quicker). And I did like the Test drive and available views to see
the artwork on the wall (it was helpful to see the size of the art on the wall and the wall colour change is great!) the only thing missing is a
bedroom as that was one of the rooms I was looking for some art for!
The Art Search¹ page is very useful in narrowing down on the selection of
images. The only thing I struggled with was after spending a few hours one
evening looking through lots of artists, I forgot to note down the name of
the artist of the set of 3 images I liked, and then took ages trying to find them again the next day! I remembered the names of the images, so maybe there could be a search artwork name as well search by artist name on this page.

I bought a ltd edition print of Sue Howells "Breakfast Terrace". I got
this framed and am very happy with it. The postage period was quite long period but I think there was a postal dispute around this time. The artwork was in perfect condition, if slightly bent this was remedied with framing
I was apprehensive prior to buying, but v happy with the result. The certification of authenticity was very reassuring. I think this may be
the biggest issue for buyers of originals or even ltd prints as in my case.
No improvements to the site spring to mind, other than as below.
I did think on first buying this piece that it was an original. I think i was in the 'originals' area of the site but obviously this was a ltd edition. There may be a crossover on looking at specific artists so maybe the status (print/ltd edition/original) could be more explicit with each individual piece of art. Having said that I could
have been more careful and overall the site was very good.

Terry Wylde's work is brilliant. I ordered ' Coastal Lights' for my grandson, and 'The Rain May Fall' for myself. However my daughter-in-law admired the latter so much I gave it to her and am now looking for a replacement on your site.

I find buying art on the internet difficult as there is rarely the level of detail of information that you would get if you saw a painting in the flesh
- i.e. exact dimensions of height, width and depth, and images are often misleading as they do not show art imperfections or in a wall space.
I think you have a very good website - easy to use and very clear.

This is the first time I have bought art on the internet but I would certainly do so again - the paintings are clearly and accurately displayed, the colours being very true.
The only aspect I would like to see improved is to be able to view more paintings per page - there are so many to look at and it takes an extraordinary long time to keep opening new pages.

I was very pleased with the piece of art I bought, it was exactly what I was expecting from the pictures and description on the website. It arrived on time and came with a note from the artist, which was lovely. It was very well packaged and I was able to hang it straight on the wall once I had unwrapped it.
I was quite worried about buying art on the internet, and I would still be cautious if it was worth a lot of money, as it is difficult to judge how it will look in real life, but the service from your website was excellent and put my mind at rest. The customer reviews and easy to use website made me feel much happier about buying online, and the search features made it
really fun choosing. Finally, the descriptions and pictures of each piece of art, along with the feature to see it on a sample wall space, were all great.
The only thing I would change is that after payment, there was a period of a few days when I didn't hear anything and didn't know what was happening. I think it would be good to receive an email saying the order is being processed and another saying it has been dispatched, for peace of mind. The art arrived on time though, so I am not complaining!

good, its perhaps not the prettiest site, but is very functional and gives a
very good idea of a; the paintings and b; what they would look like when hung.

The painting is lovely, and just as described. Delivered on time and in perfect
condition, so well wrapped that it took me sometime to get into it!!!
There is more of a range of artists when buying over the internet, and there is
usually something to covet whereas a gallery can be completely boring at times.
Your site with it's different ways of searching is excellent, colour size etc.
Your service is great, and being able to email the artist was a bonus since he
replied and said that he was in the process of finishing a similar work - I
bought that from you too. It would be good if I could get an email telling me

I am very pleased with 'Vortex' which was delivered quickly and very well
wrapped. I live on the Isle of Man and use the internet a lot for shopping
but this is the first time I have bought a painting. That is one of the reasons
I chose this artist as he lives in the North West and would actually know where
the island is so would not be too worried about postage.
I buy a fair amount of original art when I am off island and with gallery fees,
delivery etc., neither I nor the artist gets a good deal. This is much better
and such a wide variety. I much prefer works to be unframed too.

Internet is always advisable, safe, etc - I can only say that

Very pleased with the artwork. Delivered without issue. Have bought art over the internet before so I am comfortable with it. Prefer to visit a gallery but this takes considerable amounts of time to find artwork I like. There is a risk invoved with internet buying as you do not get to see the work in detail, but it means that you just have to choose v carefully.

Here are our thoughts on the art purchased. Beautiful, more vibrant in the 'flesh', personal, a head-turner. Despite the postal strike it arrived on time. It was wrapped and packaged well; recieved in great condition.
Happy with efficiency, quality, the honesty of the website. We have recommended the site to friends. Perhaps an option to have the work mounted. It's not always possible to hang the art as quickly as one would like because of busy lives, but with this additional option (particularly as some artists already provide mounts and frame for the art), the art could come complete, ready to hang.

The pieces were very well packed, I have just taken off the brown wrapping and wrapped them in birthday paper as my son requested them as a present. It was delivered, a little late but that was due to the postal situation. It was also sent recorded, and had to be signed for.
