| I am a 47 year old Wirral based artist, and paint mainly in acrylics.
I started painting when I was about 12 but had to give it up whilst studying for my A levels in order to concentrate on science subjects – I ended up reading chemistry at University College, Oxford. I picked up the brush again about 3 years ago, and found that I enjoyed painting more than ever, quickly regaining my confidence and creativity and have been selling my work successfully for just over a year now, via both physical and online galleries. My work is generally a mixture of abstract compositions and semi-abstract landscapes. I am particularly interested in often unseen organic forms, such as microscopic or macroscopic images (maybe it’s the scientific background creeping in), and colour relationships and their effect on mood. I also love the organic forms of the Art Nouveau period (antique furniture of this period is another interest). My work is sometimes planned and sometimes unplanned - I often like to see just what develops over time, and usually work on a number of pieces simultaneously. I hope you enjoy my work.
