I explore the effect of line within the landscape, the dynamic and fluid contours of the countryside, the aggressive points and peaks of the urban landscape and the eclectic possibilities of all that lies within. Some of my work portrays the landscape in an expressive yet representational manner, whereas other pieces may be pushed towards abstraction where I see shapes that are particularly strong.
My concern with line often gives my paintings a 'drawn' appearance, in effect, a drawing made with paint. Printmaking allows me to explore the line in a very direct and spontaneous manner where the end result is, to some extent, a surprise.
