When I paint I escape into another world.
It begins as a feeling or mood which then becomes a journey as the feeling matures and the painting progresses. Time ceases to exist. My objective in painting is to follow this journey. However I would like the viewer to see a painting that makes them think about what lies beyond the obvious, it will be unique to them and that’s what I want them to take away.
This particular series has been an exploration of grief, a diary in paint. The feeling of detachment felt in grieving, from the real world, the underwater sensation of hearing the world above you and of not wanting to wholly join in. To the outside world it all looks as it should, but its what is happening inside and beyond that matters.
I have been exhibiting regularly about 6 times a year for eight years, all over England, Cannes and New York. Last year, hot on the heels from Cannes, I exhibited in a joint show in Cork Street, London with positive reviews in Galleries magazine and This is London.
